How it all started

The Cornish Girls!
(Chrissy, Sheelagh, Wendy & Debbie)

Mum (Sheelagh) and I (Chrissy) went on the first long distance path on our own, we did the Cumbria Way as a led walk with Ramblers Holidays, staying at Hassness, Buttermere, in June 2000. We were both quite apprehensive and didn't know whether we could walk day after day, we had a leader each day. Everything went well and we had a great time and had no problem with the walking. The only thing we weren't sure about was having to get a bus out every day and be collected and returned to the same accommodation, which meant rather a lot of travelling.

The next adventure was again just Mum & I in May 2001, we went to the Isle of Wight and walked around the whole coast. This time we had two different hotels, were dropped of at the start each day, but walked on our own and made our own way back to the hotels. We really enjoyed the freedom of finding our own way and stopping when ever we wanted for as long or as little as we wanted.

In September 2002 my sister Wendy decided to join us, this time we did the Herriot Way, a circular walk from youth hostel to youth hostel, we carried all our kit, lead ourselves and had a great time. From there on we decided leading ourselves was defintely the way to go.

In May 2003 the 3 of us did the West Highland Way, this time we walked from accommodation to accommodation just carrying our day rucksack and having a larger bag sent on, this worked really well, we had some great accommodation including 2 wigwams! The grand finale was climbing Ben Nevis.

The rest of 2003 & 2004 was spent hacking away at bits of the South West Coast Path, during this time our friend Debbie joined us as well, and has been walking with us ever since. We eventually completed the whole of the SWCP in September 2004.

In May 2005 we had a very brief weekend visit to Snowdonia to climb Snowdon.
In September 2005 we all set off to do Wainwright's Coast to Coast, we had the best time ever and really didn't want it to end.

This year in May we had a 3 night trip up to the Lakes in an attempt to climb Scafell Pike, but due to adverse weather had to give up. We had another go in September, we were blessed with glorious weather for 2 of our 4 days and managed Scafell Pike and had fabulous views for miles all around.
